Product Hunt Alternatives for Indie Makers (2026)
Lukas8 min read
Product Hunt is free and still the biggest single launch day you can get. The launch guide even says it's 100% free to use. So why look elsewhere?
Because a big stage is not the same as being seen. On a busy day, a solo maker with no hunter and no network can land on page two by lunch. Many indie makers want a smaller room where their launch actually gets looked at, plus a second and third shot after launch day.
This guide groups alternatives by how they run a launch, because the format matters more than the logo. Everything here was checked on each site's own pages, and prices were rechecked on October 19, 2026. If you want the full picture beyond Product Hunt alternatives, our where to launch guide and list of launch directories cover more sites.
What to look for in a Product Hunt alternative
Before the list, decide what you need:
- Time on the front page. One day, one week, or a month?
- How rank is decided. Upvotes, a scoring formula, editors, or clicks?
- What "free" means. Free right now, free after a queue, or free if you add a badge?
- Who's there. Developers, designers, founders, or general early adopters?
There is no best site. There is a best fit for your product this month.
Daily launch boards (closest to Product Hunt)
These copy the Product Hunt rhythm: a new set of products every day, ranked by votes.
Uneed
A daily board with a free queue. Uneed assigns your date (at most 5 months out). You need an upvote score of 10 to stay published and 20 to get the do-follow backlink. Fast-track costs $14.99 (about 14 days) and Skip the line is $29.99 if you want to choose your date.
Fazier
Pitches itself as a place to find a favourite product every day. The free Basic tier is reviewed within 30 days and asks you to link back to Fazier. Lite ($29) and Premium ($49) let you schedule your launch and skip the link-back.
TinyLaunch
A free Standard launch puts you on the homepage for multiple days, with a badge and backlink for the top 3. Premium is $39 and skips the queue.
Firsto
Free with a long wait: 5 free slots a day, and the queue was about 180 days when I checked. Premium ($19.90) gets you live in 24 hours.
What Launched Today
A daily discovery site with a free Standard launch in a queue. Premium is $29 and launches right away.
Good fit if: you like the Product Hunt format but want less competition on your day.
Weekly launch boards
A full week on the board means time zones matter less, and you can share the launch on Tuesday without being "too late".
Peerlist Launchpad
Free, opens every Monday, and runs for the week. It's for individuals with a verified Peerlist profile, per the help center. The rules say not to ask for upvotes, and note that upvotes are only one part of the ranking.
Smol Launch
Launches on Monday and collects votes through Sunday. The Smol Launch homepage says free launches are paced at 50 per week, and its FAQ says products are ranked by a multi-factor score (vote velocity, maker reputation, engagement and fraud signals). A featured spot on the homepage starts at $19 a week.
DevHunt
Weekly launches for developer tools only. Per the FAQ, listing is free with a nofollow link. A launch is $19 (pick your week, newsletter spot, permanent dofollow link) or $49 boosted.
OpenHunts
Launches go live on Mondays at 8:00 AM UTC. The free tier had a queue of about 60 weeks when I checked, or you can add their badge to skip it. Premium was $9.90.
Good fit if: you can't babysit a launch for 24 hours straight, or your users are spread across time zones.
Month-long launches
Microlaunch
Microlaunch gives a launch 30 days of visibility, plus feedback, "roasts" and testimonials. Its page lists Launch Pro at $49 and Launch Plus at $99, with discount codes running when I checked. I couldn't confirm a free tier there.
Good fit if: you want slow, steady discovery instead of one spike.
Pre-launch and beta
BetaList
For startups that aren't fully public yet. The FAQ says all submissions are paid now, with a full refund if you're not selected. You need your own domain.
PitchWall
A free launch with a minimum 30-day wait and one day on the homepage. Paid plans ($49 and $99) shorten the wait.
Communities, not boards
Show HN
If your product is technical and people can try it without signup, Show HN can bring more serious feedback than any launch board. It's free. Landing pages and sign-up pages aren't allowed, and asking friends to upvote is against the rules.
Indie Hackers
The Indie Hackers products board has daily voting and an audience of founders. Product links I checked there were nofollow, so go for the conversation.
Click-ranked: BuildShipper
Full disclosure, this one is ours.
BuildShipper ranks projects by real clicks to your site, with likes as a tiebreaker. The week runs from Monday 00:00 UTC to the next Monday, then the board resets. Paid boosts exist (Spark, Rocket, Orbit), but they sit in a separate Boosted row above the ranked list and never change your number.
Why clicks? An upvote costs one tap and can come from a friend who never opens your site. A click means someone read your tagline and wanted to see more. That makes the board a decent test of your tagline and image, not just your network.
Listing is free: drop your URL and the form fills in the name, tagline and image. A badge on your site is optional and never required to list. Every listing gets a project page with a followed backlink, starred comments, and click stats (this week, today, all time, and a 14-day table). You can see who topped the board on the last week winners page.

How to pick (a quick decision path)
- Developer tool? Start with Show HN and DevHunt.
- Design or dev portfolio crowd? Peerlist Launchpad.
- Not public yet? BetaList or PitchWall.
- Want a full week of chances? Peerlist, Smol Launch, BuildShipper.
- Want a classic daily board with less noise? Uneed, Fazier or TinyLaunch.
You can use more than one. A sensible pattern is one daily board and one weekly board in the same launch month, spaced a week apart. Our Product Hunt alternatives page keeps a shorter comparison, and the SaaS launch site roundup goes through 28 sites one by one.
A note on vote-asking
Almost every platform here bans or discourages asking for upvotes. Show HN says asking friends to upvote is not ok, and Peerlist lists unsolicited upvote requests as a rule violation. Share the launch, ask for feedback, and let the votes follow.
If you want a board where a share brings clicks and the clicks are the score, add your project to BuildShipper. It takes a URL.
